From Yukon DUI Lawyers: in the Yukon, police can impose roadside sanctions under the Motor Vehicles Act as well as laying Criminal Code charges. A 90-day licence suspension applies for impaired driving, a reading of 80 mg or more, or refusing a breath or blood demand, and the vehicle is impounded for at least 30 days on a first occurrence — doubled if the reading was over 160 mg or the driver refused. Yukon licence holders receive a 14-day temporary permit before the suspension begins. A conviction brings a driving disqualification and the ignition interlock program. Read our Yukon impaired driving laws guide.
